BOOK LAUNCH "KNOW NORWAY" COMING SOON!
PAKISTAN TODAY 10.12.2011:

Atle Hetland, a Norwegian author, launched his book ‘Know Norway’ at a local hotel on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion Hetland said: “This book is especially for readers who want to visit Norway as tourists, for studies, business or for other reasons, bearing in mind that it is not easy to get a visa to Norway nowadays. This book depicts the beautiful nature, rich flora and fauna of a small wealthy country in the far north of Europe.” He said the book describes Norwegian culture and has been written keeping in mind the Pakistanis and Afghans who have relatives in Norway. The book sheds light on many features Norway, especially its strong economy, private and government sectors and the important role played by Norwegian women in the country’s development adding that it is mandatory that all public companies have at least 40 percent women on their boards, 39.5 percent women in the parliament elected in September 2009 for the next four years. Hetland said: “Many Norwegians travel frequently to other countries, as tourists or for business, and they learn from the outside world but most return home upon completion of their studies or employment contracts. Foreigners come to Norway for same purposes.” UNICEF representative Hanna Mullan praised the book and said: “Misconceptions of Pakistani people about foreigners should be removed and we must be recognised as friends or family.” She added that Pakistani women could also play an important role in the progress of the society. The book launch was attended by UN organizations’ representatives, social scientists and intellectuals. (cited by Amir Iftikhar Warraich)
